The first president of what was then Indiana College was elected by the Board of Trustees in 1829. Herman B Wells was named interim president in 1937 and president in 1938, a position he held until 1962. Collection consists primarily of correspondence, reports, and publications. A particularly rich collection, correspondence is to and from Wells and other high ranking university administrators. The files are arranged alphabetically.

This collection is comprised of paper records, objects, photographs, and research files donated by Dave Cormier, assistant coordinator of Labor Studies, and other people active in organizing for farm workers. As described by Cormier, "the primary focus is on materials from the first grape and lettuce boycotts, the volunteer boycott support committees which were set up in northern and central Indiana, the activity with migrant workers during that period here in the Midwest, and related information from the UFW from that period."

The Miscellaneous mss., 2100 BCE-1970, consist of individual items acquired individually either as a gift or purchased from a variety of sources.

This series contains papers, application packets, and audiovisual materials related to the Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame's 1993 Sidney Poitier Fellowship competition. Applications to the program include written film proposals, scripts, sample works on videocassette, and other materials submitted by film and video makers competing for fellowship awards.
